Six Methods to Identify the Quality of Custom Acrylic Sheets

In the current market, the production of high-quality custom acrylic sheets is difficult and costly. Therefore, there are many low-quality and inexpensive substitutes in the market. These substitutes are actually ordinary organic boards or composite panels (sandwich boards). AMET has come up with 6 smart methods to easily identify the quality of custom acrylic sheets:

1. Observation method: This is a method to judge according to the material features of the custom acrylic sheet itself. When purchasing acrylic, we can see whether the custom acrylic sheet has slightly serious fading or low gloss. If these problems exist, it means that the quality of the acrylic is not good. In addition to the observation method, you can also notice whether the instruction is consistent with the actual situation of the custom acrylic sheet. If they are inconsistent, it can also be judged that the acrylic material is informal.

2. Combustion method: A small piece of acrylic can be used for the combustion test. If the customized acrylic display sheet suddenly burns,  it means the quality of the acrylic is not good.

3. Light transmittance method: This method is derived from the features of acrylic light transmittance. It can be done by the white light that emitted by the light through the custom acrylic sheet, it can indicate that the quality of the acrylic is incorrect if yellow or blue color appear. The custom acrylic sheet has a high light transmittance and the light that passes through it is white, so it does not absorb the light color.

4. Paste method: It is also called heat fusion method. It is distinguished by the difference in adhesion between good and bad acrylic materials. For example, after a hot melt, the acrylic material with bad quality will stick and be separated difficulty while the acrylic material with good quality can be separated easily.

5. Solvent method: It is recommended to place two fish tanks with two materials into two cups that are filled with acetone and then take them out after 24 hours. The unsaturated resin surface material will have swelling phenomenon. However, the custom acrylic sheet swells and its soaked part is loose.
